I’m a stay at home mother to three children under the age of 10. It’s a full time job wanting to maintain a residence, plus keep up with three very enthusiastic kids who are always looking to play. Our favorite season is summer, because my offspring and I can play outside all night. There’s so much to do through the summer season. We get to swim, go to the jungle gym, drive our bikes, or color some of our driveway in chalk. However, much of our least favorite season is cold weather. We get stuck inside with nothing to perform because it’s too cold outside. I find myself struggling to hold my kids busy and not whining and fighting because of boredom. During the winter, I take my children out to lunch at famous food eatery. They love the chicken and also the amazing play place. While I enjoy getting away from home for a few hours, I hate sitting inside the gym area with them. It’s constantly super hot and stuffy on the inside, even though the rest of the restaurant felt cool. When I asked the office manager about adjusting the temperature in the play area, he kindly explained that their HVAC system was old and struggled to keep things cool. One day, I took the kids to your restaurant and the play spot was shockingly colder than all of those other stores! When I asked the manager why it was so comfortable inside, he informed me that they had just replaced their air filters. Allegedly, the air filters were consumed with a great deal of dirt and grime that it was subsequently preventing the cool air from entering the play gym!
When my spouse and i built a home from the bottom up, we consulted with an general contractor, plumber, electrician and HVAC professional. We wanted to make sure we got everything right, and weren’t stuck with some silly mistake. Although the general contractor was very experienced with planning the layout of the house, he was not specialized with electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems. I realize that everything from the location of power outlets, the thermostat, to the ductwork and drains will impact our everyday activity, budget, and comfort. I think I spent the most time consulting with the HVAC professional. Determining what type of heating and cooling system would work best for us was a challenge. We wanted a system designed to provide year round temperature control without costing a fortune in energy bills. We were wishing for a zoned system that allows us to customize temperature spaces room by room. We eventually settled for the forced air furnace and central air conditioner by having a duct system concealed in a ceilings and crawl space. At that time, I didn’t realize how intricate and important the style of the duct system is to the system. To ensure maximum airflow and energy efficiency for the HVAC system, the ducts simply cannot feature any sharp bends. The number and placement in the HVAC vents in the various rooms is really important. It was helpful that the HVAC contractor could fabricate the metal ductwork, because he could accommodate our timetable and verify products and materials. Now that the HVAC system is installed and in action, we couldn’t be happier with the results.
In the month of July, we had some really terribly rainstorms. It caused an exceptional amount of damage and irritation. The high winds caused power outages, and the deluge of rain triggered flooding. With no electric, we had no running water, lights, or air conditioning. Plus, the sump pump stopped working. Because of this my basement flooded, and my property was overheated and sticky. We couldn’t even open the windows a result of the rain. It was impossible to get comfortable or sleep at evening. I was constantly wet with sweat and was helpless to even take a shower. The produce in the refrigerator spoiled, and I found mold growing on the window sills and all over the walls of the basement. The flooding destroyed my washer and dryer, and resulted in damage to the furnace. I thought to take proactive measures to prevent that situation from happening ever again. I contacted my local HVAC specialist for help. He recommended that I buy a standby generator. I was rather shocked at the price tag on the standby generator, but decided that it was worth it. The flooding in the basement cost me a fortune and presented health hazards. The standby generator is permanently installed and automatically begins and provides electricity in the case of a power failure. Because it runs on propane, just like my furnace, it never needs to be refueled and can operate consistently. Now, if we should experience an energy failure, my family will never be without lights, television, functioning water, air conditioning or the central heat.
It’s crazy to guess that my husband and I have been married for over a decade and have never been on a vacation together. When we first got married we definitely couldn’t afford a honeymoon. We just rented a little beach house for the weekend. I finally decided that after all this time we should go on a trip together. We never had any kids so it should be pretty easy to schedule the trip. After thinking about it for a while we decided to go to the mountains, but neither of us have clothes that are meant for frigid weather. I started to stock up on moderately warm clothing for the both of us because we live in a hot temperature. We don’t even have to use the gas furnace in the winter because it constantly stays pretty warm. However, I am happy to experience a new weather and some cold temperatures. I guess that it is crazy, but I called the hotel to make sure they had a properly working oil furnace. I didn’t want to show up to this frigid section of the U.S. without an efficiently working Heating plus Air Conditioning system, but the receptionist laughed and told me they absolutely had a great working heating plus cooling system. We are all ready to go, now I just legitimately hope she wasn’t kidding about the Heating plus Air Conditioning system. I don’t know what I would do if the people I was with and I don’t have a oil furnace once I get there, fingers crossed she was telling the truth!
I have just graduated from a really enjoyable law college, but while I was in college I was also working constantly and even interning a bit at a local law firm to gain experience… I was looking forward to the day after graduation just because I would have the day off from work. I have not had a day to myself since before I can remember. I know it sounds like I am exaggerating although I really don’t recall a day when I could just do no work since starting college… But, I had this whole day planned out to a tee. I was going to wake up early a go for a nice long jog on the beach. Then I was going to go to the salon, and finally end the night out with all my girls. But, upon waking up on my first day off in numerous years I noticed our cooling system wasn’t working. I hoped that maybe one of my roommates had just turned the cooling system off on purpose, however that was not the case. The temperature control was completely brown and I didn’t think I knew what to do. I could have gone about my awesome day and let our roommates deal with the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C issue, but I decided to call the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C serviceman myself. I thought I could just do something nice. Once I called the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C serviceman I felt a lot better and went for my jog, and after I got back the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C van was in the driveway and hopefully he was fixing whatever was the problem!
I don’t know if anyone has had as many awful experiences as I have with the local Heating and A/C shops around this small town, but I promise that I haven’t had a single positive experience since the day I got here. I’ve tried my absolute best to locate even one corporation that I can definitely trust to do the job I’m paying them for. Because our loft is fairly old, we have an old Heating and A/C plan that requires TLC on a respected basis, so I’m often trying to locate a heating and cooling repairman to help me start up my air conditioner or oil furnace, depending on the month, and however, each and every one of them has managed to get here late, if they show up at all. They have been rude and inconsiderate, plus often act as though it’s a massive inconvenience for them to repair our equipment, even though it’s their job! Most of them have been snippy and irritable, and don’t even know what measurements to take to get the job done; A few of the repairmen have failed to even identify what needs to be fixed, and just simply left my house without doing anything! Further, some of these characters have even had the audacity to try to charge my account for their service afterwards! It’s been an annoying laundry list of failures, plus I’m beginning to wonder if there is even just one reputable heating and cooling corporation in this entire city! If there is, I’m determined to find them eventually, plus I’ll be keeping their number on speed dial.
Have you ever been blessed with a friend you could always count on regardless what? Those kind of friends are hard to find, and if you have one, you should hang onto him for dear life. About one decade ago, I was fortunate enough to have met an a/c service mechanic when he visited my house to do a power audit, and he provided me with an index of energy savings tips. I don’t find out why, but for some various reasons, we got along well and additionally became instant friends. Ever since then, my friend the a/c service technician has become close to me. He is the greatest friend I could find. If I need someone to talk to, my friend the HVAC guy can there be for me in minutes. If I need advice about something, my heating and cooling friend is always there to lead me down the absolute best path. I may not consistently take my a/c guy’s recommendations, but I am so grateful that he is willing to offer it to me. Then, not only that, but when my HVAC stopped working this past month, I called an HVAC company for a/c service, and he got all cantankerous and demanded I let him come look at my a/c first. I said I didn’t want to have him handle this because that is not why we are friends, but he still was adamant on doing the HVAC servicing himself. I was, ultimately glad I called him because he could repair the a/c relatively speedily, and it saved me that nasty HVAC service fee.
I am currently living in a southern state and every single summer, I ask myself why I force myself to live here in this scorching, humid climate that makes me feel icky the majority of the year. It is hot and humid, at the very least, nine months of every 12 months, and the worst three months in the summer can only be described as pure torture. For me, there is no relief from the heat other than two things: swimming and air conditioning. I seriously would spend those three months swimming in the pool all day if I could. Unfortunately, I am required to be at this place identified as the office. The workday really gets in the way of spending lots of time swimming in the local swimming pool. The other thing that ruins my swimming adventures is the daily thunderstorm that happens just about every single day in the peak of the summer. That means I have only one way to experience relief: the air conditioning. The HVAC systems around my neck of the woods also consist of heaters (which I never use), air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Many people may not fully grasp the fact that the central air conditioning systems in the southeast include dehumidifiers because our air is so humid. I did not learn about the dehumidifiers until I visited the southwestern region, where all of the air conditioners include humidifiers. They have literally no moisture in the air, so they need humidifiers. You can pretty much drink our air, so we want dehumidifiers. Between the few days when weather allows me to be able to swim, and the indoor air conditioning systems, I somehow survive our southeastern summers.
I wouldn’t know if you’ve ever lived in a very sketchy area, but I unquestionably have. There were a number of years when I resided right on the edge of a pretty ghetto division of town, and it was a learning experience undoubtedly. For instance, I learned to walk with one earbud at night and my keys wrapped tightly inside my hand, just in case I needed something sharp in a hurry. I also learned to keep my car locked after I got into my seat, and never to leave my windows open within the apartment. This was a mess, nonetheless, because the apartment had terrible heating and cooling capabilities. Since I couldn’t have my windows open at all, I relied entirely on that apartment’s thermostat to correct poor quality of air or uncomfortable air temperatures, and the furnace and air conditioner were not very efficient. I remember it would take no less than 12 hours for the heater to adequately warm warm up the place inside of the winter. I could boost the temperature settings and plan on feeling a difference in this ambient air temperature about half of a day later, if I was lucky. I don’t think that this air conditioner ever really worked. My apartment was easily 85 to 90 degrees on a regular basis, even with this AC at full crank. There was no way I could catch any type of breeze from outside, because opening a window was a recipe designed for harassment and break ins, so I lived in a burning hot apartment and prayed for the day that I could finally move out.
I am able to say with absolute confidence that although I have no idea what I want to do for a career, I definitely don’t want to do it in an office. I’ve only learned this recently, after having left my cushy state job for a less luxurious position from home for independent contractors. Sure, I don’t possess a salary or benefits anymore, but I also don’t have to deal with the hassle of getting up at dawn and commuting to work. On top of all that, my workspace is now perfectly customized to my own personal preferences. It seems crazy, but I’m so glad that I can control the thermostat within my workday. I previously worked in a large institution most abundant in overwhelming air conditioning which was extremely uncomfortable. Between the months of May and September, the building was always kept at such a very low temperature that it felt just like being inside of a refrigerator. I would sit and freeze at my desk all day, trying to remain warm with the powerful AC constantly going. The ventilation system was consequently well planned and powerful and there seemed to be nowhere to escape from the close proximity to the air vents, so there were drafts from every direction. The temperature settings were clearly meant for those with warmer blood than I. Now I can stay your home and adjust my thermostat with my phone. I don’t even really need to get up from my desk because you’ll find a smart thermostat in my home! I can finally stop freezing to death and work in total comfort.
